Charles has been working in the Finance industry for over 20 years, and has spent over 5 years with Macquarie Group in a variety of senior Finance roles. He was appointed the position of Head of Global Finance Services in December 2008.

Prior to joining Macquarie in 2004, Charles worked for Westpac Bank. In 2003 Charles relocated from the UK to Australia. Whilst working in the UK, Charles held several senior finance roles at Norwich Union Insurance PLC where he was Head of Capital Management and P&O where he was Group Financial Controller.

Global Finance Services was formed in November 2006 as a strategic Finance initiative with the goal of achieving greater scalability in service delivery to support Macquarie’s growth, and now has over 230 staff operating out of locations in Sydney and Gurgaon. In his current role of Head of Global Finance Services, Charles is focused on building the scale, breadth and depth of the service offering in order to increase the range of high value, cost effective services offered.

Scott has been with The Westpac Group for 6 years in a variety of operational and project leadership roles. Currently as Head of Shared Services for Group Operations, Scott is responsible for delivering thought-leadership and best-practice execution across a range of operations management functions including: reporting and analytics, workforce management, quality management, knowledge management, vendor management and business process re-engineering.

Prior to Westpac, Scott spent 7 years in management consulting with Arthur Andersen, KPMG and BearingPoint. Focussed on leading large-scale system implementations and business transformation projects, Scott worked across Australia, Asia and Europe in the Financial Services, Media and Manufacturing industries.

Scott has a PhD in Telecommunications Engineering and first-class honours degree in Computer Engineering. Joseph is a member of the Advisory Board of Shared Services & Outsourcing Network, a frequent Speaker at Shared Service Conferences and Executive Seminars, both in Australia and Overseas, and participates with written articles in several journals.

In 2005, Joseph received the "Most Admired Leader of Shared Services Organizations Award” from the SSON, based in New York, for being outstanding in this field. He is a Fellow CPA and is currently undertaking a PhD in Shared Services.

In his current role at Brisbane City Council, in the Corporate Strategy Office, CEO’s Office, Joseph specialises in organisational and business reviews, process & efficiency improvements and change management across all functions and service delivery areas with a view to delivering efficiency dividends.

James has led complex business transformation programs, both within Australia as well as across SE Asia, China, Japan and globally. His key areas of expertise include strategic business planning & implementation, aligning and focusing successful leadership teams across matrix / disparate organisations, true business transformation (as opposed to incremental change), business development from go to market, effective leads qualification, propose & negotiation to close processes; supply chain and operations management within and across geographies, procurement effectiveness across S2C (Source to contract effectiveness) & PTP (Procure to pay efficiencies), and procurement governance models, business process and global outsourcing. James leads the KPMG Australian Sourcing Practice, and has been responsible for shared services reviews and implementations, international business process outsourcing operations and the 6 Stage Outsourcing strategy through selection of an ESP to Service Management & CIP (Continuous Improvement Programs). One of these major programs was in RailCorp [2008-09] where corporate services functions in over 45 Divisions were assessed, efficiencies identified, and new TOM [Target Operating Model] finalised at both macro and micro organisational design levels. The significant cost savings, elimination of duplication and reduction in non-value add processes and functions were integrated into a prioritised implementation reform program.

James led a $1.8B post merger integration program and oversaw the delivery of synergy benefits across 24 functional streams. The greatest success, however, for the effective integration and cultural transformation of the two cultures and collaborative end to end process simplification and technology implementation program.

James has led over forty significant strategic procurement projects over the last decade – including as national head of an ASX50 company. They have ranged from 6 week diagnostics to 3 years transformations. They have included work in BHP / BHPB, ANZ, NAB, IAG / CGU, ETSA, Powercor, Origin Energy, AGL, Integral Energy, Country Energy, EnergyAustralia, CBA, AMP, WBC, Diageo, Holcim, Syngenta, TOPS, Fonterra, China Light & Power, NSW Local Councils, NSW Government, Defence, Victorian Government, Department of Defence, AJLucas, Grocon & Asics. James has advised Boards on major Global procurement integration programmes, and sustainable cost optimisation programs.

Hydro Tasmania generates a significant proportion of Australia’s renewable energy through its Tasmanian based hydro operations and through its joint venture interest in Roaring 40s.

Simon’s role with the Business Performance team is to guide the transformation of the business to meet the substantial challenges and opportunities for the business associated with climate change and future energy supply across Australia. This involves strategic, cultural, process and systems changes to the way the business operates.

Simon has been with Hydro Tasmania for 18 years initially in the water resources management, hydro production management then latterly in asset management and establishing the derivative and spot trading team in preparation for Hydro Tasmania’s entry in to the National Electricity market through the connection of the Basslink cable between Tasmania and the mainland.

Simon’s role latterly has been about organisational change and development of human capital in the organisation.

Prior to joining Hydro Tasmania Simon was involved in water resource management consulting in Southern Africa, South East Asia and Australia.

Brian Roche has had over 20 years experience in strategic corporate services in Local, and State Government as well as in the private sector including over ten years with Coles Myer. Brian joined the Department of Treasury and Finance in 2004 as the head of Corporate Services. He is now the Executive Director, Shared Services. Prior to this appointment Brian headed up Corporate Services for the Department of Commerce and the Commissioner of Workplace Agreements. Brian has had responsibility for the WA shared services reform program since Government in January 2007 transferred accountability for the then Office of Shared Services to the Department of Treasury and Finance.

Brian enjoys the opportunity to lead this large and complex reform program and is very keen to continue the challenge of delivering the original outcomes sought by the Government.

Peter Nevin joined Sedgman in July 2008 in the role of Executive General Manager Business Processes. He has held senior management positions in both public and private sector organisations and has a background in management consulting focusing on strategic planning and systems implementations. Gordon Caris is the Chief Information Officer for the Victorian Department of Primary Industries (DPI). DPI's core role is to design and deliver government policies and programs that enable Victoria’s primary and energy industries to sustainably maximise the wealth and wellbeing they generate by producing essential goods and services, employment, investment and even recreational opportunities.

DPI’s policy, regulation, scientific research and practice change activities draw upon data and information from a wide range of sources and the department is constantly seeking to enhance the value it derives from its significant investment in IT. Along with the corporate IT infrastructure typically found within large organisations such as government departments the DPI’s IT investments include advanced scientific computing environments, spatial modelling and visualisation technologies, virtualisation and collaboration capabilities, significant infrastructure to deliver information online and the Victorian government’s largest virtual and physical library collection.

Gordon's perspectives on maximising value via shared services arrangements include operating as both a customer and provider. Prior to joining DPI as CIO Gordon worked held senior roles within two of the shared services providers that now provide services to DPI, the Shared Services Centre (now CenITex) and Shared Business Systems. Gordon is currently leading a project to implement an internal Service Delivery Unit to provide various corporate and business services within DPI that are not already sourced from external providers.

Mark Leigh is the Chief Financial Officer for Hudson Australia and New Zealand. As a part of Hudson’s Australia/New Zealand executive team, he is focused specifically on driving growth, business insight and operational excellence within Hudson, as well as the normal financial reporting responsibilities for the Australia/NZ region. Mark also oversees all aspects of information technology and property for Hudson in the region.

Mark brings significant experience to Hudson gained through senior financial leadership roles at Microsoft Corporation and Qantas Airways Limited. In those roles, he undertook specific responsibility for developing and supporting growth strategies across Australia and New Zealand, and is a proven performer at a senior level with exceptional corporate experience in the region.

Keith Robbins is The Hackett Group’s Asia-Pacific practice leader and is based in Sydney. He has over 20 years of back office Business Transformation and performance improvement experience which started in the 1980’s when, as Finance Manager for Motorola in the UK, he was instrumental in driving the UK finance team to the achievement of a one day financial close, a goal that eludes many organisations today despite the significant advances in technology.

Keith’s management consulting career started in the mid 1990’s when he joined KPMG. During the twelve years which he spent at KPMG, KPMG Consulting and BearingPoint in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, he held a number of senior positions including NZ Country Leader, South Asia Pacific Commercial Services Practice Leader and Asia Pacific CFO.

Keith joined The Hackett Group in 2008 to lead the expansion of The Hackett Group in the Asia- Pacific region where he has initially built a strong local team to deliver Hackett’s IP-led transformation approach for clients in Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
